OUR BELIEFS

Rockpoint  Church is grounded in God’s Holy Word.  We may refer to it as the Bible or the Scripture.  In any case, we believe that God’s Word is inerrant, and; that it has been preserved for us.  We believe what is found in  2 Timothy 3:16-17, which states:

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good action.”

The Scripture serves as a guide to the understanding of God, as He is revealed to us, and what we believe.  As a church that holds to God’s truth as it is recorded in the Old and New Testaments , we present this as our statement of belief.  The topics below provide only a summary, however;  we strive to present the full counsel of God through the clear preaching and teaching of the Bible.

  • We believe that the Bible is the inspired, and inerrant, Word of God, given by the Holy Spirit.
  • We believe God reveals Himself in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit – within the single godhead.
  • We believe that God is the Creator of all things. We believe that God created a literal Adam and Eve, and in such instituted marriage as one man and one woman only.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He became man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. We believe that Jesus Christ lived a perfect, sinless life. We believe in His Resurrection from the dead, that Jesus Christ took our place on the cross to atone for our sins. We believe that He is seated at the right hand of the Father and will return to the earth one day to judge the living and the dead.
  • We believe in the Rapture of the church and the Second Coming of Christ.
  • We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third Person in the Trinity. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells believers and seals them for the day of redemption. We believe that the Holy Spirit bestows spiritual gifts upon believers for the sake of edifying the church.
  • We believe that Satan is a real being, a fallen angel, and the enemy of God. We believe that every person is born sinful and thus needs Christ’s redemption.
  • We believe that Christ’s salvation is a gift given to us by God’s grace and cannot be earned.
  • We believe that the local church is the vehicle through which God works in this present age. We believe there are two Scriptural ordinances: baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
