Entering 2022

Hi Everyone,  The last several years have been, at best, different – at worst, difficult.  The church, the Body of Christ, has been tried and tested in many places throughout our world – including right here in America.  However, Jesus in Matthew 16:18, regarding the church made it clear: “The gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
The church has a special place, and mission, in this world.  We are to fulfill the Great Commission issued by Jesus before He ascended to heaven.  We find this in Matthew 28:18-20, where we read:

“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.  Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. “

In other words, we are to take the Gospel message to the world.  There are so many whose lives have been changed by the powerful message found in the Gospel.  The “Good News” of God’s grace and mercy, embodied in Jesus Christ.  That He came to pay our sin debt, so that we might released from the bondage of that sin.  That we might be free of the consequence of eternal condemnation; and while covered by the blood of our Saviour – have the privilege of being in the presence of God eternally.  Therefore, our mission is to reach out to a world that is bereft of God and proclaim Jesus – while pointing them to God’s Word (the Bible).  Because, as the Apostle Paul writes in Romans 10:17…

“Faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.”

In this way, we have a related function as well.  Jesus, in the Sermon on the Mount, relates the following…

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.  Nor do men light a lamp, and put it under the peck-measure, but on the lampstand; and it gives light to all who are in the house.  Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”  (Matthew 5:14-16)

We are to be a light.  A living demonstration of the change that comes with faith in Jesus.  A tribute to the power of God working in us.  That power is revealed in that it is greater than anything this world has to offer, as; only God has the power to overcome the hardness of the human heart.  As a result of that change, we should offer up good works.  Not to exalt ourselves, but rather, to glorify God.  Yes, 2020 and 2021 tested us.  However, as we enter into 2022, my prayer is that we do it with a renewed sense of purpose.  With a conviction to bring the Gospel to those who have never been enriched by it.  It is a message for all.

With this in mind, if you know that there is something missing in your life.  If you recognize that this world is lacking.  Your heart is likely seeking after that which only God can provide.  If you would like to know more, please contact us here at Rockpoint Church.  We would love to tell you about our Lord and Saviour – Jesus.  May God bless you in the coming year.
